Brazil seduces Chile at the start of the promotional campaign

Brasil seduce a Chile en el inicio de la campaña promocional

"Goal to Brazil", the promotional campaign of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, started in Chile of Santiago with an event at which were present representatives of the Brazilian Government, the 12 host cities of the tournament and the States where they are.

Brasilia was the guest of honor of the sample taken in the W hotel in the Chilean capital to promote the attractions you will find in the South American country fans who visit during the World Cup.

The Act deployed an exciting exhibition before more than 400 guests (authorities, tourism operators and investors), who also enjoyed meals and music typical of Brazil, traditional costumes and a scale of the Brasilia sand Eco model.

Organized by the Brazilian Tourism Institute (Embratur), this exhibition seeks to promote culture and the attractions of the country using the greatest feast of football as a platform and so will visit 13 cities in America and Europe until may 2013

Why start up this tour in the Chilean capital? Flávio Dino, Embratur President explained it: "Chile is the sixth country of origin of tourists visiting Brazil and one of our goals with the FIFA World Cup is to expand Latin American integration." In addition, we are moving forward in the Pacifico-atlantico corridor linking Antofagasta (North of Chile) with Paraná (South of Brazil) "."

Another Brazilian officials present at the meeting, the Executive Secretary of Brazil sports, Luis Fernandes, expanded the idea: "World Cup Brazil won in 1962 Chile, the second in its history, is still remembered for the love he received the selection." We want to give this back to receive with arms open to Chile. "The 2014 World Cup will not be complete without the Chilean national team, and would like to come to the final against Brazil," he said with a nod to the Red currently leads the qualifying sudamericana.

Great expectations

Brazil expects to receive 600,000 foreign visitors only during the World Cup, although the more relevant number of Brazilians who will travel to the host cities to watch the games, estimated at three million.

One of the presentations of the day was in charge of Jean-Edouard Courcier, Director of the service of hospitality of FIFA, who presented "the fans experience" prepared for 2014 Brazil figures. This includes 3.2 million tickets available for the 64 matches of the competition, which will take place from June 12 to July 13, 2014. Tickets will be on sale via FIFA.com.

Courcier also highlighted four hospitality programs designed for 2014 Brazil ("Watercolor", "Finals", "Sites" and "Teams") and the many activities organized for fans, both inside and outside the stadiums World Cup, grouped under the concept "All to the same rhythm". Courcier recalled that in South Africa 2010 a survey conducted by FIFA revealed a 97% satisfaction of attendees to the stadiums, figure that the organization expects to exceed in Brazil.

The host cities of the World Cup also showed its benefits during the weekend that followed the launch in the thematic fair "Expo F11 Vive Fútbol", which attracted 20,000 visitors in the Chilean capital who were seduced by the charms of Brazilian.

Fernando Meligeni, Brazil also in football

Fernando Meligeni, brasileño también en el fútbol

There are many who describe Fernando Meligeni how more Brazilian than most of the Brazilians. And so because the former tennis player, of 41 years, is not only Brazilian, but you chose to be so.

Born in Buenos Aires, Fininho moved from child to Brazil with his parents, and although he returned to Argentina to become a youth tennis, has always wanted to underline their status as Brazilian, either played 29 matches of the Davis Cup, winning the gold medal in the 2003 Pan American Games or to get involved, between tears, in the Green and yellow flag.

In this series of interviews of FIFA.com with personalities from other areas, we talked to former number 25 in the world and owner of three titles on the ATP tour on its relationship with football, sport lifts so passionate in their two countries, birth and your heart.

We start with the issue that often arises to talk with you, although now in football terms. In the FIFA World Cup, do you support Brazil or Argentina?
(Laughs) Support for Brazil. I am Brazilian, so simple. Of course I feel a huge affection for Argentina: is the country where I was born, my parents abroad. But the human being passes through transformations, and my transformation in Brazil is very special. My sister, for example, moved here with me, but until today no doubt: encourages Argentina. I think the big difference is when one represents the country, as I did many times with Brazil in the Davis Cup at the Pan American Games...

But their first FIFA World Cup memories are of Argentina, right?
Ah, that Yes. I remember very well how my father broke out of joy with the title of 1978, and then how we all celebrate the 1986. But after that, world I already associate with the country I chose. Even today, at home, everyone jokes when you play the Brazilian selection: "look, your team, there on the Court" (laughs).

Playing football is one of the favorite pastimes of many players on the circuit, is not it?
Yes, without a doubt. Many. Especially the Brazilians, Argentines and Spaniards: three countries who are passionate about football and, in general, have many players traveling together in clay tournaments, which are preferred in these schools. For a long time, several of these tournaments - including the Brazil Open, when held in the Costa do Sauipe - compulsory event were a sprints between the players. But then the thing became too intense and some injured (laughs). Today it is more difficult to see people playing a game seriously, but in the circuit many they love football.

Moreover, not only play, but come to matches. This is one of the main advantages that we have when we travel: the Organization of tournaments knows that we love, and always get tickets so that we can go to the stadiums. Throughout my career, I could see many big games as a guest: Bayern Munich, Rome-Lazio, two Barcelona-Real Madrid classic... It becomes a mandatory program. And I, at that time, I took advantage of the fame of performance [the Brazilian Gustavo Kuerten, former number one in the world] and was free to all sites (laughs).

And among all these, are there any special?
There is a barbaric story of 1998 in Gstaad, Switzerland ATP. Performance and I were defeated in the second round of singles, and an irrechazable invitation, he then accepted to attend the end of the world, in Paris. But we reached the doubles final on Sunday, the day of the party! Then, we went to the track, with an eye on the ball and the other on the clock, so give us time to board the plane and go to France to see Brazil in the final. Our opponents were Cyril Suk, Czech, and Daniel Orsanic, Argentina, our friend from long ago. It was tremendous: performance and I desperate so he ended the game and in each change, Orsanic walked purposely despacisimo, told us: "look, feel a dolorcillo... I think I'm going to ask medical time." "You are not in a hurry, isn't it?" (laughs). At the end performance and I won in two sets and still arrive in time for the game, everything perfect. I mean, everything but the party, right? (laughs).

You, who has already represented as many times Brazil, do think that playing at home will be a determining factor for the Seleção in 2014?
Yes, there is a big difference between tennis and football. For me, it was always an incentive. Even when things went wrong, as when we lost against Australia in Davis Cup Florianopolis, for example: I never felt the pressure of playing at home. I was saddened to disappoint people, but I never felt under pressure. But with the football that changes: the pressure is going to be a problem. When it comes to football, the Brazilian is too passionate. I think that the pressure that the Selecaogane here in 2014 will be the largest that has had a team in history.

What do expect the atmosphere of Brazil during the World Cup?
It will be a world great, different from what many people are accustomed to seeing in Europe: the situation here is different. But I think it is an ideal occasion to display a spectacular feature of the Brazilian people, which is that side nice, kind, hospitable, always with a smile on your face. And even more so during the tournament: the country will live based on that. Who come will have fun a lot, no doubt, aside from the parties themselves.

Britto: "football in Brazil is art and culture"

Britto: "El fútbol en Brasil es arte y cultura"

Romero Britto knows everything about beauty, as attested by the recognition received for his work as artist, painter and sculptor. And a great connoisseur of football, is also thanks to his passion for this sport and their status as Ambassador of the FIFA for the World Cup of the Brazil FIFA 2014 ™.

Originally from Recife, although he lives in Miami, has returned this week to his country to visit the headquarters of the tournament along with the Secretary General of FIFA, Jerome Valcke, the former Brazilian international Bebeto and Ronaldo and the Secretary Executive of the Ministry for sport Brazilian, Luis Fernandes.

Britto speaks to FIFA.com about what it means for him and his compatriots to organize World Cup of FIFA, the intense passion for football, his own relationship with the sport and its role of Ambassador of the FIFA, as well as the preparations for the event.

Rosemary, what means for you that FIFA World Cup will take place in Brazil in 2014?
Brazil is experiencing an exciting time. This country feels a huge passion for football and the FIFA World Cup. Even is almost more than a religion. I am convinced that only sport and in particular football, can unite a nation, and especially one as Brazil, where football is the meeting point of the world. No matter where it comes one or what you do, all love sport. Something is in which everyone can participate without having to pay for anything. And they can live moments of happiness and joy. Football can play anywhere, with anyone. Look at Pele: started playing with a ball made of socks. For me, personally, to return to Brazil now and become part of this historic moment, when the FIFA World Cup returns to Brazil after 60 years, is the largest.

What is your first memory of the FIFA World Cup?
Since I was a child, I have always followed the FIFA World Cup on television. Always see the FIFA World Cup has been fun. I remember some parties specific, for example the Germany, because I was there and I could see how a country organized the FIFA World Cup together with joy. Berlin enthusiasm overflowed, I went to the exhibition that there was Pelé. Actually, the most beautiful memory is having been part of it for the first time, because I was in the country. You would have never imagined that today would be traveling from one place to another with the Secretary General of FIFA and two idols of the football, Bebeto and Ronaldo, as Ambassador, as part of the FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

How it considering its role as Ambassador of FIFA?
I feel very honored and flattered by returning to Brazil as Ambassador of the FIFA World Cup of FIFA Brazil. He had always wanted to be an Ambassador of Brazil. And now I consider myself privileged to be working alongside Secretary General Jérôme Valcke, FIFA on this mission. Something exceptional is to work with so many cultures. It is spectacular. I hope my art to be a bridge between people and among common things. The artists have a passport to go to many worlds and many tribes, just like the players, and have the opportunity to use this platform to help and try to help promote positive social change. I hope that my art will inspire people so you can feel the enthusiasm and energy. As Ambassador Brazil to the world, I am willing to do everything possible to ensure that the event is an unforgettable experience for the Brazilians and all over the world.

How explain Brazil who not has never been in?
Brazil is almost a continent. Here many things they are going at the moment, it is a locomotive. Brazil is undergoing an amazing transition from colonial thinking of a few to a new thinking at the national level. Brazil is developing very well, with the leadership of one of the most passionate people who have never taken their head of State, President Dilma Rousseff, I think that it is also the first woman who presides over a host of the FIFA World Cup. He is preparing the country for even greater success, it takes long time to do so. Brazil now faces a great opportunity, not only do well in terms of the economy, but also in regards to the culture and society. Sport, and especially football, is the best tool to learn the discipline that will lead us toward our goals. If a person does not have the discipline to get up in the morning and feel motivated to influence the world, you can achieve anything. Here sport plays a very important role, with the passion that exists for this game to teach principles and values. I love to do sports, because I learn from athletes, to wonder how do them it so well and understand all the work that lies behind its success. And in recent years, Brazilians have begun to highlight in this area.

What gives you the football to the Brazilian people?
The Brazilians are connected through football. It brings joy and happiness to people who sees it. Many children are inspired to see play their idols, they dream of success, it helps them to set goals. In addition, the football requires discipline, determination and passion. Adds values to people, and often serves as their motivation to make an additional effort in order to go further in their professional lives. We have dreams, but in life we need the discipline that teaches football to make them a reality. That is something that can bring football and sports. People consider an inspiration to the young and successful players, and this has done to advance to Brazil.

What relationship do you have with football?
I grew up with six brothers played football, and of course I also played, although, of course, my main interest has always been the art. But football in Brazil is art and culture. Everything that surrounds the organisation of a football match I always fascinated. It is an inspiration to me and to my arts, the green of the grass, people screaming, vibrations and the emotions of the public celebrations, colorful. It is simply amazing. Personally, I never thought about making me a footballer, but I feel a great admiration for the players and their way of life. I still vividly remember my first encounter with Pelé, whom I also painted.

This week he has traveled some Brazil 2014 venues. Impression have they offered him?
For me has been an amazing experience, feel the vibration and the delivery of workers and the people of the cities, and see the effort that has been made. I started to feel really that the FIFA World Cup is taking shape in the cities. They have been a very emotional day for me. And this week visits were also very important, because they have shown that FIFA is concerned about cities and States and their success to host this tournament. Offices really appreciate that the General Secretary of FIFA, despite having a tight agenda, has been here to personally assess the FIFA World Cup on site. It has been an additional incentive for cities and States. And they have seen that the leaders of the cities have much grateful attention.

You already participated in the Football program for Hope in South Africa 2010...
I would love to get more involved. The festival of Football for Hope in Johannesburg was a fantastic experience. I hope that together we can organize, under the banner of Football for Hope, the biggest event of painting for children by all Brazil with all kinds of activities of painting on football topics to provide a platform for creativity and inspiration, as well as hope to communities disadvantaged boys and girls.
